Palmeiro A Liar and Steroid User

I don't usually comment on these types of stories, but in this case I will make an exception. A few days ago it was revealed that Major League baseball star Rafael Palmeiro tested positive for steroids. This after he very pointedly, literally pointedly, denied to Congress ever having taken steroids. His response? That he never knowingly took steroids, never. His excuse? To imply that he ingested it with some other supplement unknowingly. What a lying piece of trash. Yesterday, furthermore, we found out that the steroid he tested positive for was Stanozolol, more commonly known as Winstrol. For those of you who are not familiar with Winstrol, it is one of the most popular steroids on the planet and is regularly used to strengthen horses. Winstrol is a water-based steroid that can be ingested in pill form or injected. When ingested it leaves the system in about 4-5 weeks, when injected it takes about 8-9 weeks, depending on the person. Winstrol's popularity stems from its good and fast results and its ability to exit the body faster because it is water based. Oil-based steroids can sometimes take more than one year to fully leave the body. Not Winstrol. This revelation invalidates any suggestion that Palmeiro ingested it unknowingly. This is not sold over the counter nor is it legal to use as an ingredient in any supplement. In other words, it did not end up in Palmeiro's body by mistake. Now he faces a congressional inquiry to determine if he committed perjury when he said he had never taken steroids, and he did committ perjury (anybody familiar with steroids and their dangers knows that). Winstrol is not normally the steroid for first time users, in fact, Winstrol is the cocaine of steroids. First time drug users almost never start with cocaine, they gradually elevate to it. Same with steroids. That means that Palmeiro (and I am 99% sure of this) has used steroids before and was using Winstrol in May because it leaves the body fast. I would even venture to say that he was ingesting it, not injecting it. At least Mark McGwire did not lie when asked by Congress if he had used steroids, he avoided the answer with his infamous "I'm not here to talk about the past" retort and took a huge blow to his reputation. But he DID NOT LIE. Palmeiro outright lied to the Congress of the United States of America. What nerve. What nerve to think that you are above everyone else, that you are so slick that after only a few weeks you are using steroids again. Well, you got caught, you idiot. To me it is unbelievable, and unbelievably stupid. They ought to penalize Palmeiro severely. Jail? Maybe, but at least fine him an outrageous amount because the ones who get hurt are not the ballplayers or us adults, it is the children that get hurt, the ones who look up to these superstars in awe hoping to be like them one day. What kind of a message does this send to them? If it were up to me I'd throw that lying piece of trash in the can for a year and fine him 10 million dollars. But that's just me. Oh, and no hall of fame for him.
